-The Greek Gods had been arguing about how to get the world to worship them again. Ares wanted a full-out assault to remind humans of the gods' power, but when Colonel Steve Trevor crashed an experimental rocket-plane on Themyscira it was decided Queen Hippolyta would return to “Man's World” with the pilot and act as ambassador for Themyscira and the Gods.
-Before Hippolyta left she was instructed by the female gods of the Greek Pantheon to bring out one of the many clay babies she had sculpted over the millenia and it would be brought to life, blessed by the goddesses, and trained by the Amazons to eventually take her place as ambassador. They named the child Diana (see Wonder Woman III).
-1940 -Nubia (Wonder Woman v1 #204 1973) A clay infant stolen from Hippolyta's wardrobe and animated by Ares
-1941 -Upon arriving in Washington Etta Candy was made Hippolyta's personal secretary. Candy designed Polly's 'work clothes', which in turn would inspire Zinda Blake.
-Hippolyta was approached by Superman to join the Freedom Fighters.
-1943 - Dark Angel - A malicious spirit summoned by Baroness Paula von Gunther and cast into a clay infant she had stolen from Hippolyta's wardrobe when von Gunther escaped from Transformation Island (again).

-1944 -Rescued Donna Hinckley from fire and brought her to Paradise Island (see Wonder Girl I)
-Trysts with Wildcat
-1947 -Daughter with Steve Trevor – Hippolyta “Lyta” Trevor
Lyta spent her summers in Themyscira until she graduated then went to USC
-1949 -Returned to Paradise Island
-1950 -Orana won the Amazonian Contest of Champions and took up the mantle as Wonder Woman (II) with Donna Hinckley as Wonder Girl (I)
-The goddesses had Hippolyta bring forth another clay child and named her Troia (see Wonder Girl II), so should Diana fail there would be another to take her place. Instead of being gifted with abilities by the gods like Wonder Woman Troia received gifts from the Titans in an effort to bring peace between the deities.
-1968 -Held a tournament to prove Diana was truly blessed by the goddesses, and when Diana won sent her off as ambassador to America. Orana died while she and Diana battled Warhead.
-When Diana came back to the island for a visit Hippolyta pretended not to notice Troia smuggling herself aboard when Diana left again to resume her duties
Troia was a founding member of the Teen Titans
